Hurricane Safety — How OnStar Can Help
Hurricane season in the Atlantic begins June 1, and forecasters at Colorado State University recently announced that the 2011 season could be very active. With that in mind, if you live along the U.S. East Coast or Gulf Coast, it just makes sense to take precautions.
The most important thing you can do in anticipation of a weather-related emergency is to be prepared. Check out the advice from the American Red Cross on preparing an emergency disaster plan for you and your family.
And the OnStar video below provides some helpful hurricane safety tips and also explains how specially trained OnStar Crisis Assist Advisors are available to help subscribers find evacuation routes, gas stations and safe shelter in an emergency.
If you’re a subscriber in an affected area, all OnStar services will be made available to you regardless of your service plan. If cell phones and landlines are not working, OnStar can also help contact your loved ones so you can let them know you are safe.
Let us know in the comments if OnStar Crisis Assist has helped you in a weather-related emergency.
