OnStar FMV Earns Prestigious Good Housekeeping Seal
It’s been a little more than a month since OnStar FMV (For My Vehicle) hit the shelves, but it’s already receiving some high praise.
The Good Housekeeping Research Institute evaluated the FMV and it earned the prestigious Good Housekeeping Seal — one of the most recognized consumer emblems in the market today.
“We are thrilled to have OnStar FMV receive the Good Housekeeping Seal,” said Patricia Haegele, senior vice president and chief revenue officer at Good Housekeeping. “OnStar has a long-standing reputation for high quality service, and we have seen this carried out through their new aftermarket product.”
Verifies claims, performance
Scientists at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute evaluate every product that applies for the Seal to ensure product claims are true and that the product performs as it says it will, both on its package and in its advertisements.
“To have earned the Good Housekeeping Seal is a recognition of the meticulous planning, hard work and ingenuity that went into OnStar FMV,” said Greg Ross, OnStar vice president of business planning and extensions. “This is an exclamation point to cap an excellent product launch.”
OnStar FMV offers core OnStar safety and connectivity features, including Automatic Crash Response, Turn-by-Turn Navigation, Stolen Vehicle Assistance, one-button access to Emergency Services, Roadside Assistance and available Hands-Free Calling. OnStar FMV also includes built-in Bluetooth® wireless connectivity.
Approval provides consumer protection
The Seal provides customers with another level of satisfaction, as well. According to the Good Housekeeping Consumers’ Policy, if a product that bears the Seal proves to be defective within two years of purchase, Good Housekeeping will replace or repair the product, or refund the purchase price.
This is not the first time OnStar has been recognized by Good Housekeeping.
“We first recognized OnStar for its innovation in 2005 when it earned the first-ever Best Service Award from the Good Housekeeping Research Institute,” said Haegele. “The Institute saw OnStar as a breakthrough in providing consumers with 24/7 driver’s assistance — including lifesaving services from trained personnel.”
Good Housekeeping’s Seal has been reassuring consumers about their product-purchasing decisions for more than 100 years and is one of the most recognized consumer emblems in the market today.

I have been happy with OnStar until a recent call for turn by turn directions while trying to navigate the flooded region of I-29 north of St. Joseph, MO. When I called for directions, the OnStar rep told me he couldn’t advise me with regard to what bridges were closed, and gave me directions right back to a road blockade at I-29 & Highway 136. After a second call to express my frustration, a pleasant young lady apologized and put me on hold while she contacted the highway patrol to confirm road closures and get an alternate route. I’m not sure why this didn’t happen the first time around, but if you are going to provide a service that gives directions, it only makes sense to be on top of road closures as well, especially when they involve a major interstate highway.
Sorry to hear that happened to you, Rose. I would like to try to help. Could you please email admin@onstarconnections.com with your OnStar account number and a phone number we could reach you at? Thanks!
