Crash Makes Ford Guy an OnStar Fan
D.J. Williams, a die-hard Ford man, just happened to be driving his wife Eve’s 2010 Silverado the day of the crash. The impact was so powerful that the Silverado was totaled. Just as every air bag in the vehicle was inflating, D.J. could hear the voice of the OnStar Advisor asking if he was OK. Thankfully he was not seriously injured.
“The OnStar Advisor came on right away and asked a lot of questions about my condition,” D.J., the father of five, says. “And she stayed on the line with me until the paramedics arrived. The Advisor even called some nearby family for me.” D.J. was especially grateful that the Advisor could make the calls because he was in an area with no cell phone coverage.
Peace of mind
Meanwhile, three hours away, Eve was attending a conference. The local sheriff’s department sent a deputy to notify her of her husband’s crash. “I really believe OnStar was my husband’s guardian angel,” she says. “Knowing that the OnStar Advisor was with him until help arrived was really a comfort.”
After the crash, D.J. says he’ll never own another vehicle that’s not equipped with OnStar. Eve says that’s no problem at all, since the new OnStar FMV mirror is available for many non-GM vehicles. “I’ve seen them at Best Buy and I think the price is very reasonable, especially for the peace of mind OnStar gives,” she says. “The FMV mirror will definitely be an option for my Ford man.”
