OnStar FMV Means Peace of Mind for Teacher
Solange Vale has had her OnStar FMV(1) for about a month, and so far she’s only used it for Hands-Free Calling. But just knowing it’s installed on her Hyundai Santa Fe gives Solange and her husband peace of mind. And with good reason.
In October 2010, Solange, a teacher in rural Georgia, was driving home from school on rain-slicked roads when her 2007 Chevrolet Equinox skidded off the highway and slid 16 feet down an embankment.
“Almost immediately the OnStar Advisor was asking me if I was all right,” Solange says. “I was trapped in my car and my cell phone had flown from the front passenger seat to the floor under my feet. There was no way I could have gotten to it to call for help. I’m just so glad OnStar was there.”
Emergency responders had to cut Solange out of the car. “It’s something I can’t ever forget,” she says.
Solange says she wanted to get OnStar FMV the minute she got her Hyundai. “Every day when I drive past the place I hydroplaned, the hair on the back of my neck starts standing up,” she says.
The area where Solange lives gets a lot of rain. And she says there have been several other accidents at the spot where her car hydroplaned. “They’ve actually reconstructed the road since my crash because so much water would gather there,” she says. “But it still scares me — that’s why getting OnStar FMV was so important to me and my husband.” Solange’s husband works several hours away and is home only on weekends. “Thanks to my OnStar FMV, he doesn’t have to worry about me coming and going every day. It’s a great comfort to both of us.”
